San Francisco native and cabaret artist Carly Ozard bids a fond adieu to her native city in “Accentuate the Paws-itive,” a benefit for Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at DNA Lounge. She says goodbye to the West Coast to realize her dream of performing in the Big Apple.

Ozard began working in San Francisco with 42nd Street Moon, the Lamplighters, Martuni’s, and Octavia Lounge at age 21, creating her first one-woman show, Bitter and Be Gay, in 2008. She went on to win the S.F. Cabaret Competition in 2009 and debuted Bewitched Bothered and Bipolar in 2010. Her tribute show, Somebody to Love: My Musical Tribute to Freddie Mercury, took her to New York. Ozard also guest-starred in Terese Genecco’s show at The Iridium Jazz Club in NYC. Her newest one-woman creation, Something Wonderful?, debuted in 2011, and she has been in Christmas in San Francisco with Russ Lorenson and Friends at the Rrazz Room since 2009.

Ozard’s musical friends and influences who have accompanied her on her San Francisco journey will join her in this one-night-only benefit. Cabaret and musical theatre artists, singer-songwriters, and a special aerial performance will be featured, including (in alphabetical order) Donald Arquilla, Jenny Atomik (aerialist), Benn Bacot, Jason Brock, Carol Chen, Michael Cronin, Amy Dondy, Caleb Haven Draper, Molly Gazay, Brendan Getzell, Dave Gursom, Lua Hadar, Craig Jessup, Amanda King, Eliza Leoni, Barry Lloyd, Russ Lorenson, Shelley MacKay, Gregory Marks, Terry McLaughlin, Tom Orr, Darlene Popovic, Jonathan Reisfeld, Ray Renati, Donna Sachet, Dennis Sanchez, Katya Smirnoff-Sky, Peter Sroka, Alyssa Stone, and Norman Vane.

All ages are welcome – please bring a photo ID. Full bar access will be available and light snacks and desserts will be served.

PAWS is a volunteer-based organization that provides for the comprehensive needs of companion animals for low-income persons with HIV/AIDS and other disabling illnesses, as well as senior citizens. By providing these essential support services, educating the larger community on the benefits of the human-animal bond, and advocating for the rights of disabled individuals to keep service animals, PAWS improves the health and well-being of disabled individuals and the animals in their lives.
