Aug. 14 & 27 – Toni’s Kitty Rescue: Volunteers must take an orientation class before they foster their first kitten. Learn how to handle and care for foster kittens and enjoy a community of wonderful foster kitten parents. For more information, call 415-554-9414.
                 
Sept. 11 – Low-Cost Rabies, License & Microchip Clinic:
The S.F. Veterinary Medical Association hosts a low-cost rabies clinic from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Rabies vaccination charge is $6. Dog licenses can be purchased at ACC’s front counter with proof of dog’s rabies vaccination. Microchipping is free for S.F. residents with proof of dog’s licensing, $20 per chip for nonresidents.

Aug. 11 – Art Exhibit Opening: Reception and wine tasting featuring printmaker Xavier Viramontes – 25 percent of proceeds from art sales will go to the SF/SPCA. Reception from 6:00–7:30 p.m. in the Leanne B. Roberts Animal Care Center Gallery, 201 Alabama Street, 2nd floor. Free exhibition runs Aug. 4–Sept. 30.
                 
Sept. 10 – Senior Dog Seminar:
In this unique one-day seminar, students will learn creative, safe and comfortable ways to physically and mentally stimulate their older canine; be able to further empathize with and support their aging dog’s unique challenges and needs; and learn about resources to help cope with illnesses and beyond with their senior best friend. $25 ($20 before Sept. 1).

14th Annual Swiss Dog Day Afternoon

Upper Fort Mason (in front of the youth hostel)
This unique event brings together five of the Swiss mountain breeds: Appenzeller, Entlebucher, Bernese, Greater Swiss, and St. Bernards. There will be performance events for Swiss breeds, nosework and draft dog demos, crafts, a Swiss-style barbecue, and loads of canine fun. An Introduction

Join a fun and enthusiastic group in an introduction to many of the amazing birds that inhabit San Francisco and discover the local habitats where they can be found. Presentations include colorful bird imagery, info on optics, ID techniques, physiology, guides, and a little taxonomy. You will have an opportunity to see resident and summer breeding birds raising new families and meet birds returning from their northerly breeding range. $40.
