Contemporary Jewish Museum – Levi Strauss: A History of American Style

This exhibition features garments, advertisements, photographs, and ephemera in celebration of the birth of the blue jean and its evolution from workwear into iconic fashion wear. Also on view is “Predicting the Past: Zohar Studios,” an immersive photography installation that is a tribute to Shimmel Zohar, a mythical 19-century Jewish immigrant photographer, and “Threads of Jewish Life: Ritual and Other Textiles from the San Francisco Bay Area,” which showcases a variety of textiles in use by San Francisco Jewish community members during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
