SMASHED AND CRASHED, BUT NOT DEAD
Union and Octavia Streets, June 5, early afternoon
SFPD sources want to quash the rumor that a young man died of acute alcohol poisoning during the Union Street Festival. No one died during the festival. Officers did respond to a call from a restaurant in the 1700-1800 block of Union Street about a drunk male passed out in the place of business. Officers did discover an inebriated male who was unable to stand or fend for himself. The protocol was to either book him or transport him to the hospital. Not knowing if the male was on drugs, officers transported him to California Pacific Medical Center where he was treated and eventually released. The subject can expect a hefty bill for the ambulance transport and hospitalization.
