Final in series of Presidio public workshops slated for May

A series of six public workshops was started in March 2011 by The Presidio Trust (in collaboration with the National Park Service and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy) to get public feedback on the development of new facilities and experiences within the Presidio. Topics included recreational and nature activities, stewardship, archaeology, architecture, and history. Two workshops remain in the series:

Monday, May 16 – Connecting with Nature: Natural Resources and Stewardship
Participants will be asked to help identify ways in which visitors can make a deeper connection to the diversity of natural resources at the Presidio.

Tuesday, May 31 – Visitor Experiences at the Presidio
The development of conceptual plans for the Visitor Center and Heritage Center will be presented and discussed.

The need for a Visitor Center and its location has been a hot topic in previous Main Post planning discussions.

“There is likely to be additional public engagement as the planning process proceeds,” said Clay Harrell, Presidio Trust spokesperson.

“Public engagement will always be an ongoing effort, [but this] is the final of this series of workshops.”

The workshops will be held at the Presidio Log Cabin from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Space is limited at each workshop, and reservations are required by phoning 415-561-5418 or e-mailing [email protected].
