First and Third Thursday each month – Free Pet Fixes for Needy Families: Surgery performed by a licensed vet inside the Peninsula Humane Society’s surgery vehicle. No appointment necessary, but pets accepted on a first-come first-serve basis. One pet per family; dogs and cats only; no dogs over 80 lbs. and no pets over 8 years old. Pets must fast from midnight on the night before surgery and be current on vaccinations; pets may drink water after midnight. First Thursday: 8–9 a.m. at Pet Camp (525 Phelps St.). Dec. 4 – Low-Cost Rabies, License and Microchip Clinic: The S.F. Veterinary Medical Association hosts a low-cost rabies clinic from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Rabies vaccination charge is $6. Dog licenses can be purchased at ACC’s front counter with proof of dog’s rabies vaccination. Microchipping is free for S.F. residents with proof of dog’s licensing.

Daily thru Jan. 1 – 25th Annual Macy’s Holiday Windows: Voted one of the “Top Ten Places to Press Your Nose Against the Glass” during the holiday season by USA Today. Last year, about 300 animals featured in the holiday windows found new homes from the adoption center, and more than $70,000 in donations was raised for the SF/SPCA.

Dec. 19–23 – Winter Break Animal Camp: Animal Camps combine animal care and behavior learning activities, team projects, craft activities, and hands-on interactions with animals such as cats, kittens, dogs, rabbits, rats, chickens, and more. Two camps are offered from 9 a.m.–4 p.m.: Grades 1–4 ($400) and Grades 5–8 ($400).

Dec. 10, 17, 24, 31 – Meet the Animals: The Randall Museum is home to over 100 animals that can no longer survive in the wild. Each Saturday at 11 a.m., a special selection of Randall Museum animal ambassadors will venture from their cages, pens, and perches to greet museum visitors up close. Kids and their families can meet rodents and amphibians; check out a Harris’ Hawk; and maybe even touch a tortoise.
