Chrissy Field Avenue’s new life

In late July, the Presidio Trust closed Crissy Field Avenue to vehicular traffic and began the process of changing the road for use only by pedestrians and cyclists. The changes will take place over a number of months, but during the initial period cyclists can travel uphill but not downhill, while pedestrian travel in both directions will be possible. After the improvements are finished, cyclists will also be able to travel in both directions.

The Presidio Trust said that this change “will create a safe and enjoyable trail connection between two of the park’s most visited destinations — Crissy Field and the Golden Gate Bridge. . . . Automobiles will continue to have access from Crissy Field up to Lincoln Boulevard using McDowell Avenue.”
