The Magic in the mix: Bringing cultures together

You can count on the live theaters in San Francisco to bring you new plays that portray a mix of cultures, but Magic Theatre, in its 45th year of award-winning professional production, does it more excitingly than most. As artistic director Loretta Greco says, “We don’t have star actors, we have star playwrights.”

Bruja, by celebrated writer Luis Alfaro, will show you how well Magic keeps its promise. Taking the Greek classic Medea and placing it in the present-day barrio as he did his acclaimed retelling of the Oedipus myth in Oedipus El Rey, Alfaro continues to explore the passion and fiery surprise of intimate human relationships. If you like your women powerful and your stories jolting, call for tickets now!
